Across the United States, community solar continues to expand, giving more people—including renters and landowners—the opportunity to benefit from clean energy. States like New York, Minnesota, and Illinois are leading the charge. In New York alone, over 1,100 megawatts of solar are now operational thanks to more than 700 completed projects. These programs allow individuals who can’t install panels on their own property to still enjoy the savings and environmental benefits of solar.
Other states like Maryland and Colorado are also ramping up their efforts, fine-tuning policies and increasing access for low-income households. As more land is put to work generating renewable energy, community solar is becoming a powerful way to support rural economies and America’s clean energy transition—one shared project at a time.
