Community Solar Is Booming & Boosting Local Economies

Community solar is rapidly expanding across the U.S., delivering major economic benefits. A new report from the Coalition for Community Solar Access (CCSA) highlights that shared solar projects are not only increasing access to clean energy, but also generating thousands of jobs and significant tax revenue. Over the next decade, community solar could contribute an estimated $120 billion in total economic impact.

These programs allow residents—especially renters and those in underserved or rural areas—to subscribe to a portion of a shared solar farm. This model is helping lower energy costs and making renewable energy more accessible to millions of Americans.

With strong policy support, the report suggests community solar could reach 30 GW of installed capacity by 2030, providing clean power to around 8 million homes, creating over 400,000 jobs, and generating $60 billion in income for workers.
