The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) approved on October 17 an immediate expansion of the state’s “Adjustable Block” program, effectively doubling its capacity for community, commercial, and small-scale solar projects. This move, part of the Illinois Power Agency’s 2024–2026 renewable energy plan, aims to maximize participation before the gradual phase-out of the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC).
With this decision, Illinois expects to add hundreds of megawatts of affordable solar power, stabilize consumer energy costs, improve grid reliability, and create high-quality local jobs. The expansion reinforces Illinois’ position as a regional leader in clean-energy transition across the Midwest.
