U.S. Solar Capacity to Reach 737.8 GW by 2035

The U.S. solar market is projected to reach approximately 737.8 gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity by 2035, according to recent industry analysis. This growth trajectory reflects a sustained expansion of solar installations across utility-scale, commercial, and distributed segments, driven by long-term demand for clean electricity and continued cost competitiveness of solar technology.

Annual solar additions in the United States are expected to remain strong throughout the next decade, with installations averaging more than 40 GW per year and accelerating again in the early 2030s. By the middle of the next decade, solar is set to play a central role in the U.S. power generation mix, reinforcing its position as a key pillar of the country’s long-term clean energy transition.
